Szarekh, the Silent King

Szarekh, the Silent King was a part of the recent additions to the Necron forces. The model is big, imposing and makes a great battlefield centerpiece. Even with a gaming quality paintjob.

This version of Szarekh has been painted by Thymos.Theos, and strikes nice balance between the conventional Necron color schemes and his own imagination.

Constantin Valdor (in Shadowkeepers colors)

I was about to paint one Constantin Valdor for an Adeptus Custodes army, in the very usual colors. But then for very down-to-earth reasons the project had to be postponed. And unexpectedly I got a chance to paint another Valdor, but in a totally different color scheme!

My version of Constantin Valdor

This time I was asked to replace the usual golden armor with the black-and-red colors of the Shadowkeepers. And how cool it was!

After researching a bit about Shadowkeepers, I decided to use two kinds and sources of light on the model. Red light coming from below, represented the demonic enemies. Valdor being in charge of troops keeping them in check would counter them with purity of Adeptus Custodes. This is the blue light coming from inside the collar of his armor and shining onto his face. This would also match some details of his armor and the force halberd.

Both for gaming and for display

The model itself came with a removable scenic base, which I placed on a plinth. This made the model suitable for display but also usable for gaming.

I think the black background shows the light effects better. But to show how the model looks separated from its scenic base I used white background. Otherwise it would be difficult to see the outlines of both parts.

The Abaddon connection

The model was featured in Warhammer Community Hobby Roundup, which makes me very happy. Somebody pointed out that he looks much like Abaddon. And you know what? They were right! I hadn’t realized it before, but if you follow the link above you will see the comparison of both models. Totally unintentional, but funny anyway! 🙂

I enjoyed painting this model very much, and would gladly paint something just as interesting. So if you have any models you would like me to paint for you, contact us and we’ll try to arrange it! 🙂

Chaos Knight Desecrator

Imperial Knights and Chaos Knights for Warhammer 40.000 may not be the kind of knights that fantasy fans might expect. But they’re popular anyway, and we had our chance to paint a Chaos Knight Desecrator.

For those who are not familiar with these units, Chaos Knight Desecrator is a type of Questoris Pattern Knight that excels at close-to-mid-range combat, particularly hunting down other war engines and destroying fortified positions.

This particular knight was painted by Thymos.theos to good gaming quality, and now can loom over the Warhammer 40.000 battlefields for the glory of its owner. 🙂

If you would like to get a Knight or a different model painted by us, you can send us a message.

Cerastus Knight Atrapos

Some time ago I had a chance to paint this Cerastus Knight Atrapos. I haven’t posted any photos of it yet, so I am doing it now.

Cerastus Knight Atrapos

According to the Forge World website:

One of the most revered classes of Knights, the Knight-Atrapos is a unique variant type of the Cerastus pattern bearing rare and potent weaponry of annihilation. Originally created solely to destroy heretek engines and xenos war machines whose very existence was considered a blasphemy to the Omnissiah, the Knight-Atrapos would earn a dark reputation during the Horus Heresy for the threat they posed to Titans, both Loyalist and Traitor.

I hope you like my take on the subject. 🙂

Blood Angels Space Marine Bust

Some time ago we had some fun with the fan-art primaris space marine busts that we made and gave to our team members to paint in any way they wanted. I decided I would like to customize mine a bit and paint him as a Blood Angels Space Marine bust.

Why the Blood Angels Space Marine bust?

Well, because it’s red. And I wanted to paint something red. I also wanted to paint it in a different way, unlike it’s usually painted. I wanted to give some depth and texture to the armor. Making it glow with some inner light. Maybe plasma-like, maybe lightning-like. It didn’t really mater much, as I was more interested in the visuals than the background lore.

Blood Angels Space Marine bust

Not that I wanted to ignore the lore completely (as long as I could connect it to the concept I had). 😀

Blood Angels lore?

I am not a Warhammer 40K player, but I do my bit of research before painting my models, and this Blood Angels Space Marine bust was no different. I wanted to stick to the official insignia, official colors and overall imagery. The blood drops were too tempting and the colors were what I wanted anyway. And metallics – not the NMM that everybody seems to want but some good old real metallics. I hope you like how they turned out. 🙂

The model is a bit modified version of the basic bust, having some custom parts like the chapter-specific helmet, extra purity seals, and also uses some more parts than Benathai used in his Ultramarine bust.

I wasn’t documenting the process of painting the model in detail, as it was only a fun project. But if you want to see some WIP shots, there are some photos and (I think) three videos in my Instagram gallery.

Enjoy, and if you have any questions – we’ll be happy to answer them. 🙂
