mahon wrote:well, it won't be a GD winning duel, but stiull a cool one.

if you want to make the scene more dramatic maybe make the stuff from the 'stealer's head (brain?) blowing out of the head :)
Why don't you think it will be a GD winning duel Mahon?

Because it is too static at the moment... just like Trov said.
Making it moredynamic might change a lot.

Maybe making the 'stealer jumping at the necron, or lying on its back while the necron is pressing it with his foot/knee and punching holes in its skull? Adding more drama to the scene, because now there's not enough of something which would turn it into a deadly fight.

glad to hear it. I can't say i am so full of ideas, but for me the way it was modelled so far made it good enough to maybe be able to make the first cutr, but not to win the GD. I hope it helped a bit and maybe inspired you too?

YEs it has. I have started to remodel the Necron to be in a more forward punching position and once that is done, I will start working on the rather static genestealer. :)

I will post pics as I progress.

I know I am new here, but I was reading what everyone has said and was thinking along the same lines with the 'static' problem you are dealing with.

My first recommendation would be replace that old tired out Stealer for one of the new sculpts. They have more detail, are easier to convert, and look tons better.

Second would be that don't know how true to the fluff, you may want to be with it, but anyone who plays knows that Necron warriors use they weapons for fighting more than anything and I could invision the necron having 'flayed' off one or two of the stealer's arms before it closed the gap and then a final stabing stroke with the gun to its head could do what you may look to grab.

Third would be to swap it to a chariot base because that extra 50mm on length is a HUGE boon in modleing a diorama.

Just my thoughts, and you can tell me to shut my yap at anytime :)

First off, welcome and thank you for commenting.

I agree that the orginal genestealers are pretty static, but did not know if the newer sculpts would be availabe in time and that was all I had, but I agree difficult to convert without a lot of work.

My original premise was that this particular Necron had gotten a shot off and flayed away one of the 'stealers arms, but had his weapon removed from his body at around the elbow of the right arm, so that whne the 'stealer closed, all he had was his left arm available to attack. So trying to stay in character, the Necron would use what ever weapon was avaiable to attack with as the 'stealer closed in quickly.

I should have ordered one, but no real time left for me.

and finally, do not hesitate to comment on anything here. We all learn from eahc other and I am always open to different ideas, so please as Skrit said, yap away! :)

Then my final recomendation is to make the fight seem more realistic the necrons punch should be entering the other side of the stealers head. Reason I say is the stealer is already inside the necrons guard and the punch would be coming from the 'outside' of the PoC, point of contact. Right now it looks as though the stealer blundered into the punch.

I hope that makes sense.
