the beginning...

Mordred
I started out with a model kit of the Santa Maria from Columbus. I must say it was rather ambitious, taking a 5th level modelling kit without any experience. I painted the entire thing too, in revell colours
I never attached the sails though, couldn't bring myself to that. It still stand proudly in my room.
Next was 1/35 figures. A friend of mine had a brother who collected tons of these and I always wanted to have some too. I recently gave them to my nephew because I didn't really do anything with them. And they were ugly too.
I started playing some magic : the gathering, and the store that sold them also sold GW and Warhammer. I must have looked at the blisters for 3 years before buying a little box with bretonnian knights. I guess that started me. Next up was a visit to the local gaming club, some second hand plastics and some paints, and I was gone
for the first years I didn't paint that much, and mainly with oil colours. I painted a lot of high elves before I started to experiment with acryllics. the moment I started on acryllics I also started 'painting', not gaming. I still play regularly but I also try to paint showcase pieces that are not meant for any of my armies.
I still have a lot to learn, but I improved significantly over the past year. I'm now in my second year with acryllics and starting to get the hang of it.
I hope that by the end of this year I can bring home a nice prize, like a medal at crisis / salute / golden demon.
that's about it
