white grease-proof paper works fine as well - you know, one that you use for wrapping sandwitches to work
as for lightbulbs - I'll have to check at home exact specification but I think any decent compact fluorescent light should to the job :)

Or normal daylight bulbs. They tend to be blue, but check if they're daylight bulbs for sure.

@ mahon, I forgot to ask, perhaps it is the least important factor? haha, what kind of camera you use? I asked Demi what he used before, so may just ask you as well to take more references. Of course other fellows feel free to join this discussion. :D

I don't think the camera matters that much. The only requirement is a good macro mode and automatic mode. An optical zoom is useful too.

I'm still using my 6 year old Konika Minolta Dimage Z10. Only 3.2 megapixel, but the macro is great! I don't think I will ever use another camera for miniature photographing since this one does a great job. And it's quite bulky also making it very easy to handle on a tripod.

my camera is canon 350. the body is not very important as Maru said. anything above 3-4mpix will do, then it's all about the quality of lens and matrix.
and no, SLRs are neither a must nor the best choice for taking photos of minis. they can become very good but for a lower price you will get a compact camera which will take you better pics or at least comparable but easier.

@ Maru, haha, I wish I know Polish but I don't. Perhaps what I am asking may have already been posted at some other sections in this forum. If so, pls kindly remind me, ha, I also do not want to dublicate the topics.

Thx for Maru, Mahon, Demi and Corvus' help. I will communicate with my frd and I promise I will post some testing photos once ready.

@Mahon, haha, I am so stupid, keep forgetting....... what kind of lens do you use for 350D? Again, if anyone has suggestions, pls feel free to jump in my stupidity, haha.

I used the kit lens provided with my camera quite often until I broke it. I'd have to check the lens I am using now, but it's nothing expensive.
as I said - you don't need any expensive equipment to take decent photos. most cameras available now are more than you need for photos of miniatures.
