Re: your painting plans for 2010?
Like most people here it's not going as planned... mainly due to the fact that my time has been very limited so far. In January I bought a new house and had a lot to arrange (including selling our current house) before we finally got the keys two weeks ago. Currently I'm working in the house so we can move in in August.Corvus wrote:Personally, when I look back to 2009, I made too little time for the hobby and spent it on the wrong projects. Because of this I ended up with a mishmash of experimental and gaming quality miniatures and half-finished projects.
So for 2010 I want to return to serious showcase painting again. First I will have to finish some ongoing projects (of which one is the Deathwing unit as it can be seen in the WiP section of the forums). After that I will probably start working on a unit of Black Scorpion undead pirates I bought a few months ago. When those are done I'll maybe do some Infinity figures or old Rackham ones...
Anyway, I finished the Deathwing unit as you might know. After that there was a small hiatus, in which I was tempted to buy the Kabuki Models Executioness which you might have seen in the WIP section. The lads at Mantic Games also sent me a sprue of Undead, so I choose to create a small diorama with the figures. In the meantime I got a bunch of figures of Red Box Games and Tor Gaming, so these have priority now. I still have the Black Scorpion pirates at hand, I hope to be able to paint these up in 2010 still...
So I have partially succeeded so far: I'm doing good quality painting, did not paint anything for gaming purposes. But the quality isn't good enough to create an award winning display piece so far...
I think 2010 is going to be too busy to finish something big because of my new house. But the good thing is that in my new house I will have room for a bigger desk and every a dedicated photo setup and some display cabinets so when I get all that ready by 2011, next year is going to be a blast!
