Thrud The Barbarian

Post by tidoco2222 »

Hi all, my latest piece is now done, I started him a while back and got sidetracked into doing LOTR stuff, anyway I've had a bit of a break from that and got him finished I just hae to dullcoat it and it is off to the cabinet for it.
I tried to stick to the comic imagery of the character and am pleased with the end result, anyway here it is

I like him but then I've always been a fan of this guy, I hope you do too.

Cheers Tim.

Looking good, Tim, the colors are cool and the skintone is pretty realistic. I love the metallics on the axe too :)

The only thing I'd imnprove is the separation of his bicepses from his chest. I think deeper shading would improve the definition of details there.

great work Tim. I love the axe and the gems. Skintone is great too, but I agree with Mahon on the deeper shading part ;)

Still it's a lovely piece!!!

I agree with mahon on the biceps chest thing, a line similiar in tone to that which seperates the two hands would be good.

Other than that, its great! nice wood colour on the base too! Lovely.

I once painted an old Citadel Thrud and I know what a pain those muscles and flesh are! With so many skin it tends to get overwhelming real soon but I think you've done a good job as it looks just right to me!:)

Thanks for the comments, you are right about the skintone but as Skrit says there is so much of it, it is very daunting, I may go back at some stage and deepen some of the shades but it is so long ago that I did that part I've forgotten what colours I used, Oh well the next Thrud sculpt that comes along I'll try again. Glkad you all like him though.

Glad you got this guy finished. Looks good. Like the gems and the wood on the base.
