mech pilot WiP - update #1

Post by Mordred »

heya,

here is a little piece I am working on for a local painting competition. It's nearly finished, but it still needs alot of small touch-ups. the skin on the cheeks is not completely done yet, and neither are the hands.

I'm still in doubt which colour the scanner should get ... green, red, blue or purple? maybe i'll do a little source lighting for it.

so far i'm happy about the colours and how they fit together, and I don't want to screw what I have now :) so any input about colours or possible changes is greatly appreciated !

I am not saying this mini is painted bad but mordheimers really have "character" or what I call it: "mini-soul"

I like him so far. Good colors but he looks a bit rough in some places, but as you said, you need to do touch ups ;)

And paint the scanner green! Yuck a red scanner :P:), btw... Red is a brownish color. Maybe if you use green (or blue for that matter) you end up with a bit more contrast considering the source lighting.

I agree with ToMaZ, a contrasting colour would be better!

I would also vote for green scanner. Scanners are usually green :)

I agree with Demi, the Mordheimers were much better, but as a fun project, this one is also not bad. I like the metal plate on his helm, the colors are good, but quite roughly painted on some places. Maybe a couple of layers of glazes would help to smoothen the rough transitions.

I'm sure you still work on the base, don't you?

YES :D first I'll finish the base, then I'll do a source light on it, then it's finished ;)

I put this one aside for a moment to work on a better 40k fig, and the other one is going much better... pics later today !

i'd definitely go with a green scanner

a long time since I first posted this guy, but he's nearing completion.

I know it's not my best work but I'm still happy with him. I only have to finish the antenna on his helmet and touch up the hand.

what do you guys think about the source lighting? I'm not very happy with it, but since this mini is ment to be a painting exercise it's no big deal :D
