MaGie's showcase

Post by MaGie »

Hi everyone,

I decided to take the plunge and share my miniatures on this board :)

So here is the last mini I finished. I painted this for the Wyrd Rotten Harvest contest, it took second place in the 'not quite dead yet' category.
I tried to create a big contrast between the subject of the mini (death/corpse) and the colours (vibrant/strong). The base is supposed to be a dark contrast. Unfortunately I ran out of time, so the base didn't end up the way I wanted it to be. I might change it in a while, but now I don't feel like changing it.
The black over skirt is supposed to look like black see-through lace, it's probably not perfect but for a first attempt I think it will do.
What do you think? I'm curious to hear your opinions.

I like it. The blade is too die for and I really like the vibrant violet of the dress. My only thought though is that the skull and bones don't pop as strong as those other two aspects of the mini I mentioned. I personally like it when the face is the focal point of the mini and right now I think it's not. My thought is that maybe a glowy eye socket thingy might work to remedy that, maybe with a colour not present on the mini like a green?

Very strong work though! I like it a bunch. Grats on nabbing second place!

This does look superb, the pinks are so vibrant. I agree with the skull and bones, a bit more white will help it pop some more.

I like the NMM but i personally would have pushed the contrast a bit more to give it a slightly more sheen. Also the grey parts of the dress are a bit too close to the blade, but they do compliment the other colours of the dress. One idea is to glaze the blade with some blues or purple to shade and colour it a bit more.

Still i think you've done a great job on the model. It's very cool, which paint did you use to get the vibrant pink colour?

This is really a gorgeos looking mini. The shine through effect is well executed! I really like it!

Very nice, and congrats on the placing

Other than a little more contrast on the bones, there is not a lot that immediately jumps out at me that could be improved. The black lace is tough to pull off, so I think you did well. Maybe some faint patterning would make it more obvious that it is lace...
