My Quar!

Post by maccioniath »

Greetings all! Been lurking for a while but decided to register and share some of my Quar miniatures from Zombiesmith. Most of them are from the Partisan line. Only the last of the bunch is a conversion, the rest may have a few weapon swaps but no sculpting involved.

haha, Arctica, the victim of huge-label mainstream miniatures  ;)

I knew of Quar and really liked the miniatures. Even considered buying a bunch for me.
I assume you use them for gaming (judging by the scenery in the background). What game? I heard of a few featuring the quar.

These look pretty fine as gaming minis, but one or two extra highlights surely wouldn't be a bad addition... unless time is your priority.

Hi gents, thanks for the comments.

Unfortunately, no, I don't get to play much, but I like to be prepared just in case the opportunity ever comes up :)
Since Songs of Our Ancestors came out - the Zombiesmith skirmish game released for the Quar specifically - I've ramped things up a bit to get enough Crusaders, Royalists, and Partisans ready. The guys in the pictures are all Partisans. There's also This Quar's War, a larger scale game, but I don't have enough minis done to try that one yet. Both books are great though - lots of art and great stories, and the rules are nice and succinct.
As far as the painting itself goes, I know I'm no great shakes but I try to distract from my terrible highlights with the bases and the promise to myself that, one day, I'll come back and finish them properly.

I haven't read the SoOA. How does it compare to other Ganesha Games stuff if you know it?
And just as Demi said, it's good to see them painted. It's such a rare sight...

Honestly, I haven't played any of the other Ganesha games. From what I understand though, the Quar rules are based off most of the same mechanics as the Ganesha games. I haven't even played SOA yet, for lack of an opponent. I'm finishing up a Crusader army to counter my Partisans, and hope to eventually add a few Royalists as well, just so all the sides are properly represented. I have to say, the Quar are my favorite minis, no matter which side. They paint up quickly and are very unique, and I like the way they look in general. I only wish I could paint better so I could really do them justice.
