Just finished my latest commission piece for a Swedish collector.
Decided to giver him a very Rackham feel, almost a tribute.
I had always wanted to paint this guy, but never owned him, so the owner of this one
said paint him how ever you want.
Very nice palette, I also like the rather limited basing, it keeps the focus on the miniature.
I think the armour would have more 'bling' to it if you took the shading a bit deeper, now it's too grey to resemble metal.
The entire miniature would also benefit from some darklining around to separate the different parts of the mini.
I like it, it's nice and neat, personally i'd push the shades a bit more to the darker side but still it's great. The patterning on the cloak is very good and catches the eye too but doesn't take the focus away.
Nice, is the cracked leather effect on the cloak freehand?
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again
This place is getting curiouser and curiouser. Talking cats, talking rabbits, and what a lovely scent in the air!
This must be heaven, but to be in heaven I would have to be..............
This is my entry for the Smart Max painting contest, dont know the result as yet. I wanted to steer clear of the apparition style of the official mini. I just love the Alice through the looking glass story, so for me it was a no brainer. I wanted to keep the slit in her throat, as I wanted her to be dead and this her heaven, I like to have little stories to my pieces.
Apart from Alice everything else was made. My wife made the Cheshire cat for me, I did the rest.
