Scipunk's WIP

Post by scipunk »

So decided to create one big thread of goodness rather than having a bunch of threads here and there. Makes life much more easier.

Just in case you have missed on the other two threads, have a look and let me know what you think : Keeper of Secrets and Snikch

So continuing on, here is my unit of 26 Skink cohort for my all skink army. This unit will accompany Tetto'eko into battle.

Going for a nice neutral and natural color scheme for my skinks and lizradmen in general.

Lizardmen has been my first army since the 6th ed and will always be my main Fantasy army since I love every thing about them.

Since the 7th ed book came out I liked the fact the skinks have become somewhat (emphasis on somewhat ) more useful and just more fun to use. Since I don't play tournaments very often, I like to create fun lists to play against opponents in the store.

Let me know what you guys think of them so far.

Thanks

Alright my next update of the lizardmen army. Here is the next highlight for the army....just need to complete 11 more skinks and I'll be onto my next step.

In addition here is Tetto'eko in his glorious self. Simple conversion from the Stegadon kit. Just used the skink priest and the engine of the god seating for the palanquin. Once I complete the unit of skinks I'll start on this guy.

Also in between breaks I am trying to paint this guy up: Canis Wolfborn. I really like this model and I had him in the closet for too long. So its time to lay some paint on him.

Started on his wolf for now and wanted to go with the traditional black/grey/white feel for him. Setting to a slow start I have been layering and washing the fur to try to achieve the right look to it. I really find it very difficult to get the right texture on fur, not to mention paint on fury texture, so any advice on that part is highly appreciated.

Hopefully the wolf would be completed in the next few days.

BTW base.....too much or not

I am doing a commission work for someone that wanted a Malifaux Seamus Redchapel gang box set painted up for him. I decided to take on the challenge because a) some of these models are great b) wanted to expand my self with painting other mini manufacturer out there.

First up is Madam Sybelle. Started to work on the front torso. I am trying to achieve a nice leather effect, which soon enough found it a little difficult to achieve. I don't want to overdue it on the highlights, but yet again don't want to make it flat.

So all comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.....until next time

Pretty much done with the clothing....just need to finish off the frills that come out from it.

But before I do so, I decided to paint the skin for ease....(and a change in color :P )

I should be done with the model by Monday evening if all goes down as planned.

Got the stockings done and started a little bit on the wipe.

Should I add a bit more of the flesh color into the stockings or not?

Thanks

I like how neat and contrasted highlights you placed on the wolf's fur. Also the wounds on the rotting lady are very good and their depth is well represented.
Good job on highlighting the black.

The funny thing is that this style of painting looks pretty cool despite some roughness and technical imperfections.

Not too fond of the lizardman, especially that there are some flaws, like the joining of his arm and torso is not looking very natural and is a bit abrupt.

Great photos. They make commenting enjoyable

Thanks Mahon. As for the skinks...well because they never made a unit that ranks up properly (since they were initially only for skirmish)....I had to play around a bit, thus the unnaturalness of the joints.
Good job on highlighting the black
This was my weekend's demise :banghead: I sat hours on the desk trying to get the feel right...as you can see from the early pics to the final....never thought highlighting black could be this difficult

I'm glad you like the pics....I think I am getting better in setting up for picture taking

As for Madam Sybelle, she is nearing completion....just need to finish up the base. Though that will be done when I finish the rest of the gang.

C&C are always welcome...so let me know what you guys think

Thanks

I like the idea of zombie latex thingy although I think you've overdone washing:
if you used more layers of diluted paint transitions would be smoother :) nice work anyway!

That's why you don't paint it really black, but dark grey. Then highlight a bit and shade with black. If you use black as your base color you have no darker color for shading.
ANd remember that shading is usually easier, faster, and smoother than highlighting.
