Elfboy - 22nd Sept ~ Hasslefree Griffon

Post by Elfboy »

As with the WIP gallery, so here.

I'll be posting stuff as and when it's finished, but to start with I'm going to share an old miniature I did about seven or eight years ago. Naively entered this one into Golden Demon, it being the best conversion and painting I'd ever done at that point, but I failed to remove the mould lines, not to mention a number of other painting sins. Still, I'm still really happy with this model and while I'm planning to repaint her, for now she can stay as she is.

Obvious Tank Girl inspiration with this Mad Donna of House Escher conversion.

I'm not after critique on this one, just enjoy it for what it is. I'll let you know when I want critique ;)

Non taken, she was not made to be a serious model. Go watch Tank Girl, you'll see why.

Harlequin Troupe

Post by Elfboy »

First three are now finished. I'm liking how the colour scheme is coming together, they're going to look quite different to what I'm used to with Harlequin forces.

Critique welcome on the bases. I like the contrast the base gives, but I'm not sure if they look right.

The rest of the Troupe are here: https://www.stoneorchid.co.uk/artonline/ ... Troupe.htm

Here's an Avatar of Kaela Mensha Khaine I did about year or so ago. I'm not sure whether or not I want to repaint him again since this effort is closest to what I had in mind. Please do critique this one, but ignore the base since it's boring.

Re: Elfboy - 23rd Oct: Death Jester

Post by Elfboy »

I'm updating a lot lately, it's slightly unnerving.

Here's a Death Jester, was quite fun to do, especially the weird armature for the gun with the spheres of crystal.

25th October - High Avatar & Carnifex

Post by Elfboy »

Another update to the Harlequin force, this time one of the High Avatar models (usually played as a Great Harlequin)

And this one from the vaults, a Tyranid Carnifex of the old Screamer Killer type. My non-gaming friends call him The Hug Monster, and I think that's cute... in a scary sort of a way.

now the last two are something I like the most in your whole thread, or so I think....

my guess is that you don't thin your paint enough though...

I like the old Carnifex, he's a lovely monster even though the paintjob isn't my best. I'm not sure if it is my paint being too thick though, if I worked with paint that was any thinner you'd see nothing at all. I suspect I need to work more on the sharpness of my highlights and smoothness of my transitions more than the thickness of my paint, something I'm learning to do with the Fire Prism I'm working on.
