winged Mephiston

Post by knightyc »

Hi guys im new here please be nice. Ive been painting since around 1997. I stopped for a while but now ive got the bug again. Ive decided to redo my whole blood angels army now that my skills are improved and im more into conversions. I had Lord Dante for my army as HQ previously and wanted a change so I decided to let Mephiston take the lead of my blood angels i will probably redo Dante at a later date. So here are some of my W.I.P shots taken with my phone as wifes camera is too much of a pain to use

Hiya! Do you know the trick of undercoating red with yellow to make it really bright and pop? It can make Blood Angels go much quicker if you're not going for a deep red.

yeah i paint mine black then mechrite red then wash badab black deep into the creases and then a final drybrush blood red on the raised areas. I dont like the bright red of my old blood angels wouldnt look realistic on the battlefield. armour thats been fighting for hundreds of years wouldnt look like new now would it lol. I will try to get some better pics with better camera and better lighting

the photo is terrible but from what I see here I can advice you to highlight the model - especially robes demand contrast! :)

exactly. I'd generally recommend stronger contrast. Don't be afraid to go with deeper shadows and lighter highlights.

BTW, your mini reminds me that loong time ago I painted Mephiston for my friend - as a chaos lord, with gargoyle wings added.

Can't tell much with the photos as they are. Suggest reviewing settings on camera and also useing a tripod or something of the sort to steady your camera.
