This is problably the best mini I have ever painted. I would very much apreciate critiques or suggestions on what I could have done to make it even better.

Thank you for taking the time to critique my work... In the future I need to not zoom in quite so much... the flaws seem to scream, but hey I would rather show you the flaws so I can learn how to fix them.

I think you have to work on smoother painting - I like colors you chose for this models but the proper transitions between tones is sth still to practice

I suggest to use more diluted paints or painting a layer or two of glaze to unify the colors

Agreed with demi, i think some areas the blending element isnt as evident. For example the armour plates of blue are pretty good, i think a few glazes of colour would help that alot, but the cloth on his arms looks to be very few layers of highlights and would benefit greatly from you giving it a transition from dark to light colours. One thing i personally like doing aswell is to darken the areas around rivets to make them stand out a little more, just a minor thing and easily done. I think one of the biggest elements to painting which i have been failing myself quite alot is to take my time and be patient with the results. But still nice colour choices and i think you are off to a good start.

Good start so far and deffinatly better than my work but I think your blacklining could do with being thinner and I'm sure that will come naturally in time as you work on your blending and glazes.

Your pictures are good enough to get an idea of what's going on but you could do with increasing the size of your F-stop to above 8 for more of your image to be in focus.

Glazing is still something I am realtively unfamiliar with, Ive seen a few tutorials which dilute the paint down to beyond even the point of a wash so that it is basicly colored water? Now my question is this. When applying the glaze is there a specific way I should drag the brush? For instance dragging the brush to the shadowed areas?

Also when blending things like this, should I blend like I have been and then apply a glaze over the 2 blended colors to provide sort of a smoother transition?

glazing is not as much about particular consistency, but more about method of application: LINK

generally it's like normal painting, but with translucent paint - similar to washes but you paint with it instead of letting it flow.

Sorry for being away for so long, work has been very hectic and actually making me work instead of lurking on the forums. Here is some more recent work than Telion.

He came along much faster than Telion did, and I credit that to the ammount of power armor. After playing with Glazing a bit, I think I pulled off a decent blend on the loin cloth but there are definatly other places on the mini that need to be blended much smoother. This was also the first time I have ever tried the shaved head effect. I think it turned out pretty well, but I dont think it looks too natural.

Here he is so far! Please feel free to comment on what should be done better or what my strengths are, so I can try and work on all areas to become a better painter.

Now the below pic shows off the tacticle arrow, the blending between the grey and the white is pretty harsh, which brings me to another question on glazing, could I take my grey, Fortress grey and glaze over the white to sort of smooth out the transition a bit more? Or should I have glazed the white over the grey?

MUCH better blending on the cloth over the trousers of the previous one, the hair isn't too shabby either IMO but then who am I to speak, I'm still learning how to do the basics

I like this one! especially the face although additional glaze or two should look fine

as for armour - it's stiff a bit flat - all you have to do is to highlight the edges
