My Wraithlords

Post by Khaelon »

Hi everybody,

That's my first subject on the forum, and I'm a little afraid, because I think my figurines are not as goog as the ones I could see on the forum.
But, it's time to start for me I thinK.^^

My project is easy: I want to do all the aspects of Khaine with the Eldars Wraithlords.
The first aspect I want to do is the Swooping Hawk.

I began with the wings. I used a very easy principle, with plastic card. They are five part for a wing, that I do with sizes. I took for their the design of the Wings of the Autarch. They are few differents with the wings of the swooping hawks, but I think it's not very important.

Pictures now:

I stuck yhe part A on the part C and the part D on the part B, and I cut the first row of feathers. (on the left finished)

And after, I put the part E between the two sets (AC & DB), and I cut the second row of feathers:

Next, I used the green stuff to make round the armature of the wing. I do it again to have two wings (that's better, if you want to fly ^^)

If you want to compare with the wings of the Autarch, to see the height of them.

I will work on them again, this is not their definitive appearance, I reassure you.^^

That's all for the moment.

A++

It's a cool idea. And I'm looking forward to the progress. Make sure that you'll make the little parts of the wings look neater. Because those little parts will start to look messy easily :)

Looking good so far, are you going to rough up the feathers like real life (lots of tiny cuts) or are you going to freehand paint them into life?
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again

That seems to be one ambitious project. If you don't lose your enthusiasm and manage to finish it, you will have something to be proud of.

As for quality, there's nothing to be shy about. Everyone learns every day... You learn from the more experienced and teach the less experienced.
And I can see you have enough skill and experience to have valuable opinions on many subjects. And moreover, every opinion can be useful - and the forum is here for exchange of opinions :)

I would suggest that you should clean the edges a bit. Maybe cut or sand them at angle, so that the wings/feathers become thinner near the edges. Like edges of weapons, etc.

good luck with your project!
I believe I have already seen such a project somewhere in the web... perhaps even here, on this forum
Why don't you search for it to get some ideas or inspiration?
