Legion of Darkness invaded CofC!

Post by Demi_morgana »

greetings!
thanks to Mahon I finally got pics of my re-done warzone stuff and here are samples of this (the rest is in my CofC gallery :wink: );

so not typing too much - here they are:

technomancer - he has face-look of really nasty pecker... eee... I meant badass :wink: here I've tried glowing effect for the first time and nmm a bit but maybe it will be better if I just stay with metallic pains... :oops:
the sculpt is pretty funny - left hand is MUCH bigger then right one, and this oversized Nazgaroth hmg... :?

warzone long-promised livind dead! :D I had really, really great fun while painting them (I liked drilling head-shot holes the most... :twisted:) and I am satisfied with the result; I know in such mutilated corpses there should be a lot of bloody-mess but I decided to use limited color palette to unify the squad; my crappy nmm can be seen mostly on the leader... :? maybe You can help me to improve this technique?

so what do You think? as I said I'd like to improve my skills so EVERY honest opinion is precious 8)

first of all they show a big improvement in your skills. I really like them - they all look cool together.
second of all - I heate the sculpts. They are ... poor, man, really can't compare with the current minis.

and for some comments: your blending is getting better and better but it seems the last highlights on the black seem to be rushed. there is a pretty nice transition and then - oomph - the last highlight hits the minis. you could use more intermediate colors, or simply thin the last color more and add more layers of it (covering smaller and smaller areas still with ther same color, but waiting for the previous layers to be dry to avoid brushing them off).

as for the metallics - i thin k they could use some more highlighting to accentuate the edges. They look too "soft" for artificial objects, and the details get a bit lost becauise of the lack of the last highlight. The washes could be a bit neater, too. Do you add a drop of dishwashing soap to your water? This could help you apply the washes smoother.

And it seems you could use a new brush. You would be able to improve even more and save time, which matters....

good job! continue, please :!:

I use watered down paints to highlights but I think it's just a matter of practice to achieve smooth blending; for me black is damn hard colour to highlight properly :?

as I said - everything is OK until the last highlight. it seems as if some layers would help between the darker haighlights (very smooth) and the last one.
