I noticed the unshaven look and liked it a lot. What I might suggest is adding some shading to the face (eg. under the nose, and between the cheeks and the nose) - even if only with washes.endrem wrote:I like it too, turned out really nice. The unshaved face is a good idea, maybe it could be a bit more well defined. If you don't say he is unshaved, I might haven't noticed it at all. Maybe it is just a picture and IRL it's clear.
yep. I think he got the leather looking right now, and blending is just a matter of practice. two more minis clad in leather, ten more minis, and it will be smooth - i believeThe leather colors look good this way, maybe a bit smoother blending would make it even better.
I have a similar feeling - that the back isn't as good as the front. generally it's the barrel blending with the rest of the mini. It could use some more highlighting. you could add several layers of drybrushing and then smooth it a bit with a glaze, or if you have time and patience - paint the woodgrain on it...With the barrel it is true, that the wood and the metal parts have too similar colors.

do You mean adding blue / green to brown to get more "shadowy", darker tone? if so maybe You have any pics if Your minis where such mixture was used?Mordred wrote:maybe working with different colours for shading and highlighting could solve this. F.E. using greens and blues to shade and thus create different colour fields for each part
