Wyrd Painting Contest: Total Testosterone!
[rimg]https://www.wyrd-games.net/banners/wyrd-banner.gif[/rimg]
The time is upon us for the next Wyrd Painting Contest which has developed from its modest start to a contest that now, with the help of the miniature community and generous sponsors, will become a quarterly event held year round with the theme of the miniature changing from contest to contest!
TOTAL TESTOSTERONE is the name as well as the theme for this next contest which encompasses anything and everything (well, mostly) that is man, or better defined, as male.
Overwhelming muscles, the need for a big weapon and the underlying instinct to show off for the fairer sex? If the answer is yes, then your miniature is more than qualified for the Total Testosterone painting contest!
The contest is open to any and all, and the choice of miniature is yours to make, from any manufacturer, whether fantasy, sci-fi or something else altogether. There are several categories to enter and you are welcome to enter each if that is your desire.
For your miniature, it must be male and to be more specific, a human or humanoid type. Examples are: Humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, centaurs, male vampires, ogre bulls, WWII cyber-zombies ... etc. The list is rather long and and open, but if you should question it, please contact me and I will give you a final decision upon it.
You cannot enter anything that can be defined as a critter or monster (no remote resemblance to a human), and that includes badgers, dragons, stone trolls, skeletons (even if they have the proper amount of ribs!), etc. Although you could argue that the creature is male, that is for another contest down the road and I don't wish to mix themes.
The contest will run from June 10th to July 22nd, after which, all contestants entries will be placed upon this website anonymously. Voting will commence from July 23rd to July 31st, and depending on the number of votes and comments, will be posted within a few days of the closing date.
Sponsors for this contest are:
Dark Age Games
Dark Forest Miniatures
Darksword Miniatures
Freebooter Miniatures
Gamers Quest
Ginfitter's Gnomish Workshop
Groundforge
Hasslefree Miniatures
Reaper Miniatures
Spellcraft Miniatures
Spyglass Miniatures
Urban Mammoth
Woodland Scenics
Wyvern Games
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of all categories, as well as prizes given randomly to entrants to encourage participation. As you can see from the list of sponsors, you have a good chance to get your hands on some fantastic product.
For full details about the contest and its rules, please follow the link to the website and read the contest page as well as the rules and info page! Should you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Now grab those brushes and slap some paint!

Fantastic, can't wait to see what you come up with. Some of the folks that have already popped up with interest in this are the uber painters that I strive to be (well, mainly I curse at my brushes, but you know!) and I am quite interested in seeing what some of ya'll come up with!mahon wrote:you caught my attention, Nathan...

Thank you for advertising it, I appreciate it!
As for not entering - heck no! Enter, the fact of the matter is that I am going to have more prizes here than I know what to do with to tell the truth. Granted, there are six catagories where the winners will get a nice prize package (I'll make it up as the swag comes in) but the 'Random Schmuck' prizes will be going out to random entrants who join the contest.
Still always a chance to get something free. Good thing in my book.

Not a problem. Lazy bums need something to do.frustrated_father wrote:Thank you for advertising it, I appreciate it!
Ok, you spoke Southern to me... *laugh*frustrated_father wrote:As for not entering - heck no!
You and Mahon both have good points. If I can squeeze an idea in while trying to finish stuff for Chicago GD, I'm in.
I'm just waiting to see how many versions of "My Hero" from Hasselefree you get.
