Irresponsible people :[

Post by messiah_182 »

Yesterday one of my horses had an accident :(

While galloping she ran with her side into a wooden wall. The second horse who was galloping with her directed her and she didn't manage to stop.

As it turned out a nail was sticking out of the wal.

She tore open her upper leg. A large piece of skin was hanging around. That looked terrible.

I called my friend vet but he was on the road and couldn't came at the moment. So I called the animal clinic and asked for help. They said that they will send someone.

We waited for about 40 minutes. Two vets came. But they were angry that they were called. Thay looked at the horse and said that there is nothing that can be done and that they will call for a transport to get the horse to the clinic. I disagreed becouse my friend said that this kind of operation can be done without moving the horse.

They got really angry then. And then I feelt the smell of alcohol from one of them. I couldn't belive that one of them came drunk to a accident

I told them to leave and again called my friend. He said that he will cancel the meeting that he was going and will come right away.

I had to wait for him until 23.00 becouse he was far away when I called him. He came with his son also a vet.

I assisted during the operation. It wasn't so hard as I suspected. The horse was really calm. It took them to stitch her up about a hour.

It all ended a few minutes afrer 00.00.

I really can't belive that those vets from clinic were so irresponsible. They are just like doctors from a normal hospital. I'm so angry at them

Luckily all ended ok and the horse today is looking better. The vet said that everything will be ok but it will take time to fully recover the health.

Some people indeed! Are you gonna charge them for irresponsible behaviour?

I hope the horse will be alright, take care!

Accually those horses are my future wife :)

There are two horses and the expenses connected with them are not so high. Each horse costs 200zł per month. That is about 70$ per month. The wheat last year was really cheap so at the moment cost even less than that. I also have two fields which at the moment are rented to someone but in the second year they will probably be sown with wheat.

To tell the truth I was afraid of horses at the begining. But with time and with frequent grumbling of my beloved lady I got used to them :) They are not so scarry as I thought :D

Well we live in a small town (25 000) and the horses are in the nearby village which is about 4km away. So it's really close.

We live in Lubartów - it's 20km from Lublin.

I too own a horse and you will find that will a bit of care horses can heal up reasonably quickly. The wound you describe sounded serious, but just needs to be kept clean. The first two vets that showed up should be reported. Here in the states, there is a board that you can call to report on vets like that. A lot of them have the attitude, that they are indespensible, because there are so few vets avaialbe any more.

Take care and let us know how the mare does. If you happen to see yellowish or greenish discharge from the wound, call the vet right away. Clear fluid drainage is okay, if there is not a lot of it.

BTW what breed of horse does your future wife have? Mine is an OTTB (Off track Thoroughbred) 17 hh.
