Reproducing sculpted terrain question

How to convert or sculpt a miniature? How to make a decent base or even a full diorama?!

Reproducing sculpted terrain question

Post by Boglin »

I've sculpted a few terrain pieces out of Super Sculpey. A crater, log, sandbag stack, etc. Now that I have them all baked I want to make a mold of them so they can be easily reproduced. I've never tried this before and really don't know where to begin. Anyone out there experienced in mold making?

Thanks

A little, but not with sculpey as the master. Hmmm... How many copies are you wanting to make?

Many. It was recommended to me to create a rubber mold. Didn't know if that was the best route or not. I guess the mold would need to be flexible if you wanted the piece to ever be removed. heh

I've known people to make molds from RTV that you get at automotive stores. For something like terrain, it might work pretty well. If you have a spare base to play with, you could give it a try.
