cloaks

Post by Rhynox »

Working on a terminator lord here and wanted a little help on this cloak. I think it needs a bit more blending only cause I can still see lines in the coloring. While laying highlights down I dropped a little too much in one spot so whats the best way to repair this?

Other than dry brushing a lil black into it I can't think of what else, any tips from the experts?

Sorry for the blur I have yet to clear room for a tripod.....

:( I am sorry, but because of poor quality of your photos it will be difficult.

Better? I guess my main question would be, what do you all find easier, light shaded out or dark then highlighted?

This is my first highlighting attempt, btw.

Much better :D
I would do that this way:
Thin down some black paint, that it becomes almost transparent. Now paint over the transitions you want to repair with it. Repeat as many times as needed for the effect you want :) This should help.

(Put only as much paint that it doesn't run into recesses and onto the parts you don't want to cover. After dipping your brush in paint remove the excess by wiping in paper)

Ańa is 100% right: some glazing can improve transitions a lot! :scholar:

right oh, I'll do as you said Ana, and post some images as well when done. I'll look into glazes, any names I should look for? Never used any glazes so.... I'm not in the know of what to use.

A wash then? What is the difference to avoid confusion between wash and glaze? I think some sites I have looked at use the terms interchangeably.

When you said glaze for some reason I thought dipping....dunno why. Guess work with pottery and the look of dipped minis and pottery.... lol. Lack of sleep is a bad thing.

Any simpler and I think you'd need step by step pictures Ana. :D
