local painting competition - tips/pointers?

Post by LadyEyes »

Ok, yes, I got suckered. I'm running a painting competition for my local gaming store. We decided to make it a speed painting competition for simplicity's sake.

The store is providing the minis (Reaper stuff), and the contestants get to bring up to 10 pots of paint/ink (no sprays or such) and 3 bristled paint brushes (no air brushes allowed). The store is providing placemats, toothpicks, water, paper towels.

Yes, I had to specify no air brushes or cans of spray paint. I also am having to specify "dipping" minis isn't allowed.

The minis are going to be cleaned and primed ahead of time, and the contestants get 90 minutes to paint. They get to keep what they paint, and there will be at least a couple prizes. Spectators will be allowed to heckle, but not touch or throw anything at the contestants. :D

I've never run a painting contest of any size or type. Any advice, tips, things to consider from anyone? Please? :rose:
