Wood Elf Noble

Post by Maestro »

Looking at a lot of Wood Elf character photo's lately I noticed everybody gives them 'basic' metal armour. Since the WE-armybook as the option for the 'Oaken Armour' for characters, I thought it'd be a good idea to try that for a change!
Here's a WIP shot of it:

Still trying to figure out my camera and photoshop though as in real life the armour has a bit more colour, notably some fine greens in the shadings.

C&C are, ofcourse, more than welcome!

Cheers, and thanks for viewing!

The woodlike armour is a great idea! :D (might swipe that eventually!;) )

Because the mini is still in a very early fase I won't go in to it too much right now. My only question/advice is that the colour of the hair and the armour are very much alike and that it might be better to have a more contrasting colour for it. (the hair) So that it ads more character to the face and mini...

Looks great! I would give him some red-brown hair though. Some autumn colors like that might look good on this mini.

Thanks all, slight update:

So far I've finished the tabard in an blueish-grey and did the cloak in a sombre, cold greenish-grey.

C&C are welcome ofcourse!

Obscuras, yeah I know, the hair could well do with a little more red into it. It was painted with Terracotta, shaded with Scorched Brown and highlighted with Pallid Flesh, zo it's a reddish-brown. I doubt that a simple red glaze would be enough to liven it up a little though..

10 points for idea another point for a white primer
end about making a foto - if you took pictutes inside bilding in moderate light set brightnes on 1.3 (on the scale from -2 to 2 ) if in full sun to -1.3 ,
when making photo on the white bacground end light from the front you will achive unnice efect of over lighting so the mini will look darken on the snowi white background - so put light difused by som thing that will make it less direct or chenge a background to gradient from white to blue - it gives good efect especialy with digital cameras .
end back to the mini - you mey expiriencewd a problem with the color of the coat - how about a somthing like catachan grean lightned to khaki to achive a bright efect ..... but what i know eny way
 :D

for hears tray bestial brown endthen bestial brown with khaki (dent ask whay but it gives a nice efect

The greyblue is a nice contrast to the browns, what colour will the back of his cloak be?

Looks great so far, allthough I think the face looks a bit too similar to the armour.

The cloak was already finished thank you.. So, a light greenish-grey-white.. :?

I've done the tree, the boots and the wooden parts of the quiver and dagger-holder-thingy in a dark wooden scheme.
The rest of the quiver (as well as the rim around the gem on his shoulder) in NMM gold. As this was the very first time I tried NMM, I'm not quite dissapointed how it worked out. It's actually rather tricky...
