Actually, he is both. As a just awakened godling, he masters the possession of the human host, and constantly feeds of it.
The miniature captures the moment when he is just emerging from the puppet on the string.

I can't tell you how many people I know that bought all of "the monkeys" minis from Pulp City at Gen Con. They loved them!
