The degree of weathering is very similar: the paint is chipped and rusty spots are showing.

I think it gives some connection between the decoration of armor and the wings, which are an added element.
If you take a look at the photo of the back of the mini, you can notice that the arrows and the borders are actually very similar. I think they bind the parts together with the common style. Moreover, to me they create some way of merging and interweaving the organic parts (skin, mutations, wings) with artificial ones (armor, weapons).

And bear in mind the model is not very dirty, I'd say it's rather chipped and damaged, but not really dirty. So why should the arrows be any dirtier?

PS - anybody noticed the little ear on one of the wings?

I thought as much, so it was more an element of photography and angle then the painting itself, personally i love the feel of the turquoise armoured sections its awesome stuff, i want to learn from that.

But i do think the feel of the model is dirty and diseased in a way and maybe the metallics should follow suit to a certain degree? but saying that the stark contrast between the armour and the rest really gives us alot to look at, very busy with detail.

Does this mean we can blame Mahon?  But i didn't notice the ear actually :D i just spent 5 minutes staring at the model looking for an ear lol.

I did notice the ear, but just attributed it to an odd fold on the wing. For those still looking for it, a little spoiler, it is on the right wing.

lol that title just suits every situation.

Btw a question about the ear, was that intentionally stuck on or was it already there as part of the model? ^^

That was a good coincidence that I didn't find time to look at forum at this weekend ;)

Now I see I am clean
I realized that I could have added more dirt when I compared both versions. The first one was more dirty, but not as well shaded as the new one.
But you know, I like painting dirty things

The ear is on the back side of wings (right side)
I smeared GS on the wings, and I made the ear by accident :) when I saw it I added the rest of facial skin, and in the paintwork I added it to the wings as a kind of patch.

(*Standing Ovation*)

I'm new around here so I have been trolling some of the threads in this forum. I have seen you work on Cmon and I find it to be absolutely inspirational! I'm glad to have come by this as I would aspire to learn from watching your progress on these minis.

As far as C&C, however, I find your figures to be irreproachable and as such I have nothing to offer other than my adulation.
