Sadly, I think I've come to expect less and less from GW. Sorry to be so down on this, but I don't have high hopes when the first thing being put out has everyone playing an Inquisitor's retinue.

Mix of s-f and medevial church power (let's call it gothic sf) is the most distinctive feature of 40k universe. It is nothing strange, that they want to concentrate on that at the beginning. They have to make a game differing from existing sf rpgames.
Now, 40 world is so big, that in fact every sf style may be adopted to it.

I think it doesn't sound that bad. I've always loved the WFRP, I might be a bit lopsided on this, but I'm optimistic. Read the Q&A part, which is pretty new: HERE. Black Industries (not GW) made an excellent job on the WFRP2, so I can't say I'm not curious how this one turns out :)

I just regret, that they implemented D&D style of publishing - separate books for everything - rules, creatures, weapons.

I think it's the sign of our times. But as far as contents go we should be satisfied with WFRP2 :D
