I wonder why... I assumed light comes from above, so top parts are highlighted, bottoms are in shadow. But I may be misinterpreting something...

by bottom I didn't mean "in recesses".
muscle sections seem pretty flat. you have highlight upper part of each section, I'd highlight lower. I suppose that you thought muscle sections have ... "eldar gem" shape ;) perhaps you're right about it.

did I say anything about it? I was analyzing shape of the muscles, not lighting direction

Okay.... less than ideal lighting in the over the shoulder shot for sure....

The black gem effect does NOT work in that shot! I must re-do. I think much more shading for the under parts fo the wood on the gallows. And lots of other work to do.

How's the severed hand now?
Are the lasso things by the belt an improvement?

Anything else?

Still haven't gone back to the flesh. I am tempted to leave it, but I DO wanna at least work the veins over some. Gotta think on the base too! I want to keep it onthe Kingdom Death game base, which is basically a blank 25ish mm square base. It's going to auction for charity so I'd like to keep the base gamer friendly. I don't think I am a display painter yet anyway! But I think I am getting better. Thanks guys!

Man that is really starting to turn out. I do think that the wood needs to be darker however, would fit the model more.

Wow, very good paintjob so far! And I like this model. But I prefer a bit darker trousers. Very nice gun and skin, and the coat - just great :)

So I have paint on the entire mini. No more primer! That's something, and I think I can see the end of this guy now. Still LOTS of work to do in areas. Don't like the gem effect I tried, going to redo it as suggested (TY Mike!) and all sorts of other work. The parts I am dreading are the base, and the eyes. I want to do a glowy blue OSL effect on the eyes. I have never done that, so it won't be any kind of extreme effect for sure. The rope needs work, especially the noose, and all sorts of other areas to go back and forth over. Anything else? The to do list is....

-Eyes
-Bracelet
-add more highlights to rope (esp noose)
-work veins on arms
-add some highlight to arm flesh
-smooth out calf on pants, and add a few highlights to the lower half of pants.
-add some edge highlight to the belt on the hat, and the belt with the stakes in it.
-try to do some highlighting to the jagged holes in the jacket.

And of course any and all suggestions and crit's appreciated.

Ack! That first pic is very poor! Bad angle, and bad pic all around. Yikes!

Thanks!
