Wraithlord's wip log

Post by Wraithlord »

Figured that instead of making a new post for each wip I am doing I will just start up a log here. Because I have a tournament coming up in March I am working extensively on my Warriors of Chaos army right now. Here is what I have finished so far:

The first few units I did: Khorne Lord was obviously not done at the time.

Now the wip stuff

Once I have everything painted I will be doing the missing bases all at the same time I also have the dragon and a giant but they are on hold right now as I am unsure what I am going to do at all on the giant and the dragon was being converted and it went awry. Once I recover the model from that I will get it going as well.

good looking army!
as army painting requires a bit different approach, I'd suggest strong highlights (especially at edges) to make minis pop on a battlefield :)
White teeth of hounds are too striking - glaze them with browns maybe to tone the colour down.

Latest update on the hellcannon

I think I may have to go brighter with the OSL, especially closer to the barrel of the cannon itself. The teeth on the hounds have been washed a few times as well to dull the glare (thanks for pointing that out Nameless, forgot it entirely).

nice update! I will do good if you go brighter with OSL (as already pointed), also metallics could be highlighted a bit more.
The skulls look to yellow for me, I don`t know if it is in real or just the photo.
miniatures painted:

wow, that's quite much of a change!
you know what I'd do - I would add green verdigris-like wash over the brass cannon. something like what Przemosz. does...

the OSL doesn't look much like OSL yet, but I think with some more highlighting you will get it right.

HUGE UPDATE:

Alright, I finished off the warriors (and of course forgot pics, next time I promise), have nearly finished the Hellcannon and dwarves, started on the basecoating of the warshrine, and started on the next 5 knights. Here are the pics.

I would be really interested in what your opinions are, especially concerning the OSL on the hellcannon and the armour of the knights. I am not sure if I should go brighter still with the osl and the knights are meant to be very similar to the the first unit I painted but have a greenish tint to the armour as they are nurgle knights. Comparing them to the others, how do you think they compare colourwise? Still close but different enough or should I separate them a bit more?

That would be done as a wash right, super thinned down and applied in specific areas? Never actually done that before so if you guys know of some examples I would greatly appreciate it.

Nother update. Dwarfs are done, hellcannon is pretty much done as well with maybe some slight details left here and there. The warshrine has begun its many washes now and the knights are about halfway to being finished.

I did something a little different this time with the knights and used boltgun to highlight some of the edges and scratches in order to bring out the green armour a bit more. What do you guys think? Also, is the blue colouring on the hellcannon enough or should I go with more for it to look like real oxidization?

Newest update. Knights are farther along now and nearly done aside from small details here and there. Also started on the second sorcerer that I am taking to the Warmasters tournament in March.
