Looking very good, the transitions on the blue are super smooth.

looking great, and pics are quite good too :)
don't add rust here, it won't fit. leave the purple ooze, just add some bubbles to the surface. I still think, that gems on mechanical parts are not the best idea.
You'll have a great, contest-level dread in your army. fantastic

Visually wise it is awesome!

How you painted the arm (dark to light normally the other way around -light shining from above) is when you think about it abit wrong. But as said, it looks great, don't change it! :)

The grey NMM looks much better now too. I agree with Phil that you shouldn't rust it, it just wouldn't fit the clean paintjob anymore! (I said it before because the grey NMM wasn't convincing, it is now!)

I am not a big fan of the base as I feel it's too plain for this (promising) stunning paintjob. I would build a more extravagant base, he certainly deserves it! ;)

Another update :D i've finally done a big portion of the other arm to a standard im happy with.

I agree with you Skrit on all counts and i think the way i did dark to light looks better this way even tho it's not technically correct. Im still trying to slow myself down as to not rush any part of the model.

The base will be getting alot more detail put onto it once i have a good idea of how the model looks. I got some bricks and rubble i want to put onto it and i want to try out some water effect on the purple to give it a more dynamic look i think. Anyway have a lookie :D

Thanks for the nice comments they do help motivate me :D. Well i've kinda had quite a lazy weekend for my painting, where i haven't gotten much done. But i did have to varnish one of his arms because i found the paint kept rubbing off the metal :(.

I need a bit of cleaning up to do on the bits i've done to keep it all consistent but i think it's coming along quite well, i am losing a little bit of concentration but im keeping myself patient on this one to get it to a stage where i am really happy with it. I need to smooth out the blue transitions on the back part of the thing which im working on now, and to brighten up a little the gold nmm on the plasma cannon arm to be consistent with the rest of the nmm but it's getting there slowly :) it is a wip after all.

Anyway here is a pic:
