converting slayer into nightmare

Post by Demi_morgana »

last friday we were playing warmachine - again after over 2 months of break :D
we were hahing great time and because of this and because I got legends rulebook I decided to add a little sth to my force - the nightmare
the model looks like this:

it's based on slayer construction (the guy below) and it's personal jack of my favourite caster - deneghra :)

the problem is I don't like the nightmare model BUT I like slayer a lot - so much that I wanna convert slayer into nightmare - these jacks are same size but the nightmare is over twice expensive!!!
I have some ideas so far but if you have any more - put them here :)

and I quite like the original model,
much less enthusiastic about the paintjob on it...

I would just remove the building and the kid.

I'd do the same;
I really don't like the arms but it has a reach special rule so it's justified - more-less
what I really can't stand is the cost :(

do you have to convert it at all?
you can change the pose of the slayer with regards to that 'reach' rule, but I don't know if PP jacks are easy-to-convert models. perhaps you can add some chains and skulls, as seen on the nightmare. perhaps some censers or torches. I don't know, I'm not really familiar with PP universe, don't know what would fit. Then painting more elaborate than usual, a freehand or two and there you go :)

BTW, I could find use for that hiding girl, if anyone here doesn't want her on the base, pm me :)

I'm here with Phil - for me you could just use the unconverted model. Why should anyone mind it?

It's in the details. Give him some more armourplating with plasticard, add skulls, a couple of wicked spines/blades and some chains. I think you should make some real adjustments to the head, so you might want to swap the horns for blades like on the original model and turn it aroud a bit?

The slayer is easy to convert btw. If you take a saw to it's legs you can get all kind of poses out of him, if you remodel the arms it should be no real probleml to give him a menacing pose.

With only some cutting and repositioning to one leg I got this:

So I guess if you put some extra effort in it you might end up with a very cool nightmare ;)

woo-hoo! TMZ posting!!! :D
thanks mate!
I wanted to use plasticard or milliput to expand slayer's claws and replace horns, I'm still wondering about shoulders' final shape:
when I start cutting there won't be turning back...
