Vallejo Paints.

Post by Sundra »

OK, Finally did it, broke down and bought some Vallejo Game colors, first, let me clue you in on the type of person I am. I don't do anything half assed so when I say i bought some Vallejo Game colors, I actually mean I bought all 67 colors and the varnishs with them.

All I can say is OH MY GOD! i iwsh I had grabbed these sooner. it took alot of shaking but once the bottle was mixed well I have NEVER come across more smooth, well blending, mixing, and long lasting colors in my life.

I'm having a ton of fun just experimenting with schemes and the varnishes to see what textures I get and things of that nature. All I can say is that the money spent on the Vallejo Game COlor suitcase was money well spent.

My personal review. Two HUGE thumbs up

hi sundra
Congratulations ,
well, when i first bought VGC, i bought a job lot of 72 colours, and i had never painted a model before, but i find they are briliant paints, but you do have to watch for the bottle top sticking inside the lid sometimes.
have fun

And I agree, money well spent! :D

@Trov: Switching back huh?! Why? I just use both...

Skrit? Maybe you are talking about their Model Color line? Or did you buy multiples?

I have the Model Color line (except flourescents) purchased about 6-16 per month over a period of 2 years. There are some speed painting techniques that can't be pulled of with GW paints (so I've heard but I've only been restricting myself to speed painting for a few years now).

I like the variety and bottle style. They are also more opaque than the GW's in my experience.

Yes I'm talking about Model Colour but I also purchased some Game Colours. I don't know if they're exactly the same...

I have just bought about 20 model paints, mostly browns and reds plus some earth tones. I'm really pleased with the results so far, blending is really state of the art. As soon as I can find some more vibrant colours I will always paint with them.
for now I paint my darker models with model colour and my brighter models with gaming colour.

Imo Model Colour does some of the best reds avaiable and cant be beat for its pure selection of colours (200+)
i love the Burnt cadmium red as its a great basecoat for painting red over a black undercoat

Got the full set of Game colour pretty much similar to GW's imo but better consistency (not as thick)
