A quick update i've done one leg of the slayer and the metal hydraulics under the torso area of the slayer, sorry i paint so slowly but i hope i can do more soon. Its been so hot here the paint is drying too quickly too and its not too comfy to sit here for so long in this weather. oh well im hoping for a freak snow storm or something. Anyway enjoy the update.

Ok so i've been busy painting more today, finishing the other leg and started work on part of the torso, i need to do some more gold nmm on the back and front of the torso and then i'll start work on the arms. So far so good, im happy with the result thus far but im trying so much not to rush or do the lazy way of blending/painting. I'd also like to try painting some faded runes into the larger armour plates of this little beastie but im not sure whether to use the colours im already using or a different colour completely. Comments and ideas are very welcome. B] Anyway enough of my waffle here are some more update pics.

Ok so i've been busy again painting in my free time after a nice brisk jog in the heat last couple days. Im really happy with the way i've painted the arms they match up well with the model. I looked at the model and i wanted some other colours to break up the model a little, so i painted some of the corrugated piping on the model in a blue sort of energy feel to them. I haven't done any OSL on the model yet since im still trying to decide whether i like it or not on these models. I want to add some rust effects to the model but im not sure if i will yet. The runes on the main armour plate were quite fun to paint but they didnt show up well on the model. I have ordered a light tent with 2 lamps so i should be able to take some decent photos once that comes in and i will post them. Anyway comments and criticisms are very welcome.

Hello boys, girls and others. I have been busy trying to improve my nmm and trying to get my blending alot smoother so i managed to these models. I was hoping if i can get some constructive criticism and comments on where i can improve on my technique. Oh and before those comments i apologise for my lack of camera skills, i need more lights in my room.

Overall im really happy with how it looks, the nmm is much better than my 1kson on this model and the transitions i feel look much better. Anyway i'll let you all have a look and judge the model for me, maybe there are a few things i'll go back and touch up but for now i need rest. !

Click to see full-sized imageSticking with my space marine craving i actually borrowed a friend's ultramarine honour guard banner bearer and i've been working on it, giving it as much time as i can to get everything nice and smooth, so far im really happy with it but if anyone can give me any comments or more advice on it i will be very grateful. Overall so far im happy with it but im thinking i may have added a bit too much yellow to my nmm and not enough white, especially around the helmet area, and maybe the blue around the top of the helmet is a bit too light.

Click to see full-sized imageWell a new update to an old project. Here is a thousand sons marine where i tried taking the nmm to an even better quality than what i've been doing. I reduced the amount of yellow in the mix and more in the brown and white area for the gold nmm, Im really happy with how it looks. I wanted to tone down the brightness of my marine compared with the previous thousand sons marine. Anyway enough of boring you all, here are the pics. (aplogies for my shoddy camera skills)

Well returning to my army building i thought i'd try and tackle my thousand sons marines again. The work from the games days have inspired me to get back to it. So i figured with my nmm i was using too much yellow in my mix and i was covering too much area with highlights. Toning down the colours have helped me with contrast too and i think i am getting much better with my blending now. Even tho this is army building im going to try and do each of my units with as much care as a display model for my standard of painting and im happy with the results so far:
The model at the back is my original thousand sons for comparison of my improvements.

As always comments and criticisms are very welcome, especially since i want to improve my painting. Apologies for my camera skills.

Nice looking squad there mate.
What I miss is some factors that make them stand out more! I know this is kinda hard as they are mindless automatons but maybe a strong contrasting colour on the tabards would help.
I also think that they would stand out more if you had darker bases. Black to dark grey or dark browns with some discoloured static grass would definitly bring out the Renegades more!
I love the Thousand Sons, what else have you got planned?

Thanks for the comment there Skrit, looking at them maybe some more colour might help pick them out but its kinda what i tried to do with the purple and white bases. I might try a test model on a darker base and try from there.
Well currently im putting together 12 more rubric marines with 2 sorcerers, 5 terminators, 1 terminator lord and 6 obliterators. Its taking ages because im giving every model some extra little detail using green stuff, nothing major like small parchment tags, scroll cases, torn parchment with scriptures etc. This is just as a practice for allowing me to get used to sculpting little things since im pretty rubbish in that department.
Also on the go are my world eaters, which you've seen some test models above and i have 3 units of them to paint and do but im trying to select which models to be skull champions since i want them to stand out, but for them i need to purchase some marine close combat terminators and world eaters conversion kit from fw and some dreadnoughts too. But thats just all in the pipeline for now since i want to finish paint most of my army that i have before i make too many more purchases. I think all this practice will also help me get a better appreciation of nmm, gold especially and thin layers for when im blending since that is one thing i have always been working on. Anyway enough of this rambling, thanks again for the advice ! i'll test it out
