Tormented Face!

Hi all, i've been painting some bad guy models from gamesworkshop and privateer press and i wanted to do some free hand on the larger areas of the models with tormented faces or screaming ghosts etc, now to me this is quite challenging and i have no idea where to start. I've been looking around on CMON and other models in general but im wondering if anyone has any advice to help me do this or any examples which might help me. I haven't started doing any yet but im tempted to try it out on some old figures i've had lying around just to get a feel for it.

Oh on a completely different topic, whats a good "English" brand of stuff to strip plastic models with?
