Worth seeing as they published photos of others entrants.
From my personal view I can only add that there are few really great works and overall level of miniatures is higher than the last year. The "cartoonish" style is still present but there are also some "true&weathered" minis.
The Slayer Sword winner is indeed a highly precised work, something in "baroque" style like Magobaku works. But on the other hand for me it`s just an art for itself...too much...
that's kinda floating skull-scribe thingy...
if I were 40k inquisitor bada$$ I don't think I'd be happy to know there's typewriter floating over my head
The winner looks slightly too decorated and baroque to me... Technically it seems to be great, but not quite my kind of thing I am afraid.
But still very impressive, nonetheless...
CONGRATULATIONS to the winners
THANKS to Szary for posting the news and to the participants for giving us so many miniatures to admire
OMG that's surely taking the Pith, how the heck does someone do that much detailing on the inside of a flapping coat?
Getting back into the thick (or rather thin as in thinning my paints) of it, not picked up a brush in some time so this may hurt a bit until I get used to the feel of them again
Well, up close I'm not as impressed with the quality of the designwork, but dang I'm impressed with the patience that took! Thanks for the link, I looked through the rest of the GW coverage, nice to see a couple friends in there, and some good pieces. Some, I'm not sure what the artist was thinking, and some I was blown away by the iade and the execution. All around, cool. Still, I'm partiual (totally partial) to Gen Con and the MMSI Chicago Show for more very cool stuff!
