the first example was supposed to be natural, just a bit desaturated. now i can see i failed miserably :(
the second one was more what you're talking about but the inspiration was more in early punkrock bands with strands of dyed hair, and X-men's Rogue.

Anyway - even if I don't like some things it's not that I won't ever paint things like that. What I really dislike is not hair partially dyed, but all hair dyed. Even in commericals I get uneasy feelings when I am seeing these models with hair dyed to unnatural colors.
