Painting camouflage

Post by alexei »

I've had some experience painting woodland camouflage, but now I have some WWII models and some GW Imperial Guard that I'd like to paint flecktarn.

I don't know if anyone here has tried painting it, but I would greatly appreciate any tips. I will be trying it out soon, so when I fail miserably I'll be happy to tell everyone what not to do :P

You can try with some masks. A layer of brown some dots with maskol then a layer of dark green more maskol then a layer of light green more maskol dots an thenen some spots with dark blue. When you remove maskol youll find a similar pattern. But be carefull with layers thickness or youll find real holes when removing maskol.

I think Banshee painted something like this on his Rawnee (without maskol)

I've never thought about using maskol for painting camouflage... thanks for the tip! I hope to use it soon (if I only manage to find zombie wearing camo uniform :zombie:...)

I think that on smaller scale minis you could use a toothbrush loaded with paint and rubbing your thumb against the bristles to make the drops of paint fall on the surface. Repeat with other colors.

People used it for dirt or blood too...
