Hey guys, hows it going? As some of you know I am a commission painter. Recently I had a client ask me to paint some Legion models for him. I painted a legion boxset back when Primal was first released and my client saw them said he like they way the scale where painted(black with blue highlights) but that he did not like the way the light grey skin looked. I immediately suggest a bone or light tan colored skin instead and while he didn't reject that idea he wasn't to enthusiastic about it either. Long story short I need to figure out a color ASAP that goes with a dark black/blue highlighted scales so I can get painting as this clients wants me to have them done on Sunday. I have a Carnivean, 2 Seriphs, Thagrosh, Vayl, and a forsaken to paint hopefully by Sunday, along with some circle models for another client but I have that scheme all worked out.
Do you guys have any suggestion for me on what color I should paint the legion model's skin? Thanks for any help you can give me.
EDIT: Here is a really poor quality pic of the Warpack I painted back when Primal was released.
I would go for a greyish skin with another color mixed in.
For example, something like VMC sky grey mixed with a little bit of green (something like catachan green) as base highlights with grey or maybe a very light flestone (dunno if the fleshtone would work) The deepest recesses I would tone a bit more greenish afterwards That's what I would do I think.
These are for Justin's army, right Jay? I'd go with a Tanya's idea. You could also consider a tan color highlighting up to Menoth White Base. That would give more of an animal/natural feel to the dragonspawn. I'm not playing on Sunday, but I expect to see Justin's army finished, as well as your Skorne.
I'll be giving Tanya's idea a go here soon on a Seraph, probably over tonight and part of tomorrow. I'll post pics when its done for critque. Yes the legion stuff if for Justin. Don't count on seeing any painted skorne anytime soon though, I also have a 500pt Circle army for another guy coming to the tourney with me as well. You can see more about that army in the WIP section in my Hordes Blog, or at least you can as soon as I have something to post about it.
