Painted or not painted, this is the question

All the stuff which didn't fit anywhere else

well I think the armies SHOULD be painted entirely, but exceptions can always be made. I mean, does a club really want to have the publicity of being the only ones without a painted army ? if me and my fellow club members go to an event to give a participation or demo game, we always ensure to have a presentable table with fully painted armies. I'd be ashamed to show up at an event with some plastic armies.

We have many tournaments here in Poland.
There are local tournaments, held very often, for example in Poznan there is one 40k tournament a month. To make it possible for new players to participate there is mostly no requirments for painted armies, however there are additional points for painting. Proxing is very rare, and I haven't seen paper markers ever(but I play only 40k)
Master tournaments are larger and are organised average once per 2 months. Here painted army is required, there are points for the quality of painting and army history.
Most players from top of our league have full painted army or even a few armies
I think that all players on international tournament should have painted armies, that's part of this hobby and it doesn't look proper when you use plasic or metal figures on well looking terrain.

@Mordred: Totally agree with that. Especially because, as I mentioned above, it would be the first so big event in Hungary.

@Zolwik: Many thanks for the detailed description :).
