Ha ha Thomas - I'm actually painting the same elf :D
Orc is almost finished - just a few details left.
As for elf - I only painted a cloak and scale armour so far. I'd love to see as smooth transitions on the cloak as your elf has :(

for the cloak: thin layers, patience and a larger brush... at least that's what I used. The big folds I did with a size 3 brush. The smaller folds I do with a standard 00 or 1 brush. I tried painting the bigger folds with a smaller brush and it created these streaks because the paint dries while still painting the same fold.

It's good that I posted pics, because now I see what I need to work on :P
And I have the orc laying here in his box ;) Great models. I hope to get the dwarf and wizard too.

Thanx :)

ToMaZ - I love the face. Definitely one of the most unexpected variations on this subject! Great job on this challenging mini!

I like the cloak too. you go the surface and highlighting smooth and neat. i am looking forward to some updates :) I know it sounds like an impossible task, but I would separate the scales of his armourt a bit more. Just a hint from me ;)

thanx guys. I forgot to mention that the inside of the cloak only has one layer of blue on it. That's why it looks a bit fonky.

@ Mahon, yeah I really need to do that. I guess I'll better get it over with as soon as I can too :P
@ Demi: You really should try a large scale model. It takes a different aproach and you have a lot more surface to work on.

Again thanx :)

I hope to get the dwarf and wizard too.
i'm thinning paint, try to be patient, used flat 2 for big folds.
Lack of skills and experience, Thomas, that's the answer...
What's more - I prefer painting monsters - just as Demi.

Dwarf is in our shop, and wizard will be available in few days. Dwarf is tempting, but I think I'll take a break from 54mm and paint something smaller. I got few reaper and ilyad models that I wanted to paint.

definitely try it, Demi! I had had some doubts, but I decided to gain new experience. Quite different painting, but it is still fun

well, a little update in this topic again.

I'm not in the mood for painting lately (due to work and other stuff) except for these rare moments where I paint from when I awake till I go to bed.

anyway, I have two minis that are close to being finished. Both are for a warmachine army. Haley is for my friends army. The doomreaver for mine. So no showcase stuff.
I tried different techniques on these miniatures. I'm pretty proud of how the metallics turned out for the effort put into them. Too bad the pics don't show it. I'm not sure about the scar on the belly of the doomreaver. I think it turned out too light.

Sorry for the bad pics, I didn't take them with my own cam. I'll take better ones and with more angles as soon as my cam's batteries are charged.
