*in my best Southern drawl* Now, ya'll be nice... bless their hearts, they can't help that they're dinos and not bugs.
imperial science is miles of from truth... they dont know that vespids are just a nid infiltrating organism... poor tasty taus. and we are not only dinos but also many things... but its all good since imperial scientist biologist responsible for that xenos is on my biofiles has" organism impregnated by stealer"mahon wrote:Well, Imperial science sometimes discovers something new, so why can't you take it like a man? Definitely. Gav could even write a novel "Last week... on a market"mahon wrote:Well, I think they would sound more believable![]()
They are not bizarre, weird, innovative or whatever else you could think of. They are bad sculpts - nothing more, nothing less. Call them any way you want, it will sound exactly the same as 'mighty fine'mahon wrote:They could call them the most bizzarre or weird, the most innovative, or think about something else.
Mahon - how old are you? About 25 I guess?mahon wrote:Don't sell vespids as 'mighty fine' miniatures because whoever has eyes will be able to see this cheap marketing slogan through...
You're not the prime target for GW. They do not care, if 'mighty fine' makes you laugh or makes you angry. They do care, if 'mighty fine' models are bought by youngstas, as they seem to be the biggest part of buyers.

I am sorry to say this but ... what youy said was true.Nameless wrote:They are not bizarre, weird, innovative or whatever else you could think of. They are bad sculpts - nothing more, nothing less. Call them any way you want, it will sound exactly the same as 'mighty fine'
I am not sorry because I am admitting you were right, but because I grew on GW minis and will always have some sentiment to them... And GW does something like that...
Me? Too old for opinions as childish and naive as mine, but also too young to consider myself matureNameless wrote:Mahon - how old are you? About 25 I guess?
I mean: over 27....

I know that. I am 100% aware of that. If Poland was a normal country, a typical market for GW minis, I would be too old to be their target over 10-12 years ago. Well, IIRc in these times they aimed at slightly older customers but its seems the target age is becoming lower and lower.
OTOH it's a good choice of target if you ask me.
I am not this naive to believe they want me to buy their minis thank to their fluff, White Dwarf writings, or other stuff they post to their website. If one takes a closer look at what they write it's so simple and ... nearly ridiculous. Well, it's plain to see that they're aiming at somebody different than me and likes of me.
I just felt like ranting a bit and venting. I am totally disappointed with the vespids and wanted to let the steam out. I did it. Thanks for listening, sorry for making you listen to it
(PS - don't take it all too seriously)
now GW gives himself the luxury of selecting and only aiming for specific target? well thats like oposite of expanding, specially since GW product has potential to be for all ages ( theres not much products like that)... lets not forget its already segmented male/female market since little lead troops are here for a long time ago and was considered for so many years boytoy... a bone here and there would keep vets satisfied...
i feel xenology book a tasty bone
old black gobbos of "creature feature" and "converting carnis" or "lost fleets" nice bones also...
Also i believe age/maturity argument is not that linear
and talking about linearity... GW way of putting himselfs on market is has random has you can get.

I decided to split this thread from the Black gobbo discussion

Well, NAVARRO, you pointed at one good argument. Maybe I was disappointed because the 'mighty fine' vespids were advertised in the Black gobbo. The magazine which was initially pretty intresting and even though tied to GW, it was still tangibly hobbyist's thing. Many cool and interesting suggestions and ideas. It was pretty different to the catalogue that White Dwarf has become.
And then in the same time as we see less and less interesting issues of Black Gobbo, they also write such stupid things. And there would be a cool idea for a hobby article: "how to make your vespids look good"
Well, I think we are all awar that they are aiming at younger and younger customers. Just check the photos in their leaflets etc. The gamers there are maybe 12-15 years old. And when I check the photos from older issues of White Dwarf, the age seems to be higher. They also simplify thier rules, usually show only simple painjobs, make their miniatures easier and easier to assemble...
Teenagers are good customers. But maybe you are right and narrowing your target schould be considered luxury? OTOH you can't satisfy everybody. If they are better customers than the older ones, that's GW's decision.
What is more interesting for older guys is these cool Black Library albums, these nice Forgeworld stuff. It's more pricey you say? Yeah it is... GW was never the cheapest company out there...

heck wen i was a teen i was always broke, so GW hobby is going to appeal to rich teens (even more segmented target) lets not hope they narrow target so much that they will do only minis for male 12 year old, rich, who likes lotr balrog on yellow pijamas version and loves vespid because he is not aware of tons of other companies minis.
Although i must say Portuguese community is mostly 25-35 year old and a duck with chicken flu have more braincells.
And agree FW is one hell of a tasty bone.
We that are here online can see how many vets simply disapeard and how many kids avalanched online communities... its a shame since GW is not providing the goods for those who keept with GW from the begining and builted it stone by stone... ignoring the foundations of a structure may be very dangerous.

I know for a fact that GW doesn't have a prime target. They want EVERYONE to buy their products!Nameless wrote: You're not the prime target for GW.

And although it looks like 'youngstas' buy the most, it's a bit deceiving. They do buy the MOST times but in small quantities while the 'veterans' buy loads at the same time...
...but... ...but... ...does that mean I'm gonna lose my Girl License?NAVARRO wrote:lets not forget its already segmented male/female market since little lead troops are here for a long time ago and was considered for so many years boytoy...
