do I have to run a contest again????

Post by LadyEyes »

Geesh, I know I've been busy and not here much recently, but what's everyone else's story?

Do I need to run a contest to get people to post stuff again???? (HB days for the folks that don't remember)

Surely not EVERYONE is THAT busy that we can't manage a couple posts every few days..... :P

What do you mean with posting stuff? in the showcase or in the different fora in general?

I presume it's the different fora thing. Well tbh, sometimes I feel like posting, sometimes I don't. Not that I don't like it here, I do! It's the best forum I know, and I visit it multiple times everyday, but sometimes I just can't be bothered posting something. Think I'm just lazy :)

And I don't think that you should run a contest. You can, but I don't think that it's needed. IMO you can't expect that a forum with little over 250 users, and about 30 - 40 active users keeps posting different things every day.

And it's been more active lately. It has been much more quiet around here before.

I've seen a strange behaviour here btw. Mostly it's like this: Saturday and sunday, the activity drops close to nil... (except for trov, spamming in the shoutbox ^^) monday there is a bit of activity again. Tuesday same as monday. And Wednesday it goes up again, thursday too. Friday the activity goes down a little again. Then the weekend comes again, and when you expect that people would visit the forum, it grows silent again.

Now you'll see that this week this 'routine' won't happen and my theorie will look like rubbish :mrgeen: oh well...

I've been pretty active last week I think, now is my week off, maybe next week again when I update my army topic again. :P (damn you got me posting something!)

Now go away, you crazy woman  (j/k)

oh and the poll, I answered maybe, but not for the reasons you put with it.

ToMaZ, you could be our website's statistics engine :)
Do you know you say just what the stats do? Wednesday and Thursday are usually the most busy days here. Sundays generate rather a lot of bandwidth usage too, but I tihnk it's mostly ue to the auctions.

The silent Mondays and Fridays still amaze me... As for weekends - maybe people don't post from work? Maybe they spend time with their families? I, for example, spend about half the day with my family, and try to do something in the other half. And then I have to upload the auctions - little time left for the forum on Sundays...

As for the number of visitors - I think we already have quite a few of them :) Yeah, a lot of us :D And we're still presenting quite a lot stuf there. And I had to increade the bandwidth limit twice already... Well, what more can I say? Quite much traffic here ;)

What is fascinating is the fact that sometimes we have periods of nothing- where nobody posts no new works. Seems like we all agreed not to post then

BTW the contest Tanya organized on HB was really successful IIRC... I mean the one which wasn't a painting contest.

What?? I was right??? :shifty:

You know it has striked me as odd that when you see other fora with loads of activity in the weekend, this one sleeps :) I think that has also to do with the age of most users here. I think the average age around here is somewhere in the mid- to late twenties. While other fora get overrun with kids (nothing bad about that offcourse). I can see the 'adults' doing other stuff than the hobby in the weekend, while kids would jump on the miniature related stuff.

Mondays and fridays... well, monday people aren't too happy because the work- or schoolweek starts again, and friday, they are preparing for the weekend, tired of working all week long :D

Yeah, can't suck an explanation for that out of thumb... :P

Well working seven days a week hasn't stopped me from posting!;)

I'd love to see a contest of some sorts, I like contests...

Edit: I was tempted to vote for the second just for the fun of it though...
