Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
did you do any highlights with the airbrush?

Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Yeap, basecoated with Magic Blue (Prince August), shadow is Dirty Blue (PA). Then I did a first highlight with a mix of Magic Blue (PA) + Deep Sky Blue (PA) and then a second highlight just with Deep Sky Blue (PA).sea.man wrote:did you do any highlights with the airbrush?
Isn't it enought?
Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Only to be clear -I am no expert and I don't have an airbrush, the only thing is that I have seen a Miniature Mentor tutorial about airbrushing
the guy got great effect on space marine with just 2-3 color changes. Since you are already giving it 3 layers, I think you should start with darker color and finish with more brighter. Then you wouldn't need to do more shading or highlighting with brush. Airbrush will do the 'smooth transitions' magic for you
Those are just my 2 cents

Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Well, I see what you mean. I usually use another color for a second layer to go deeper in the shadows, but considering it's the first time I'm working on blue, I think I've been a bit shy, so shadows aren't deep enough I guess, compared to the highlight which goes nearly to white.
Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Maybe now you could just make a dark wash and put it into the deepest places?
But it will make the whole process more time consuming

Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Well, I could do a little bit of airbrush with a darker color. Time consuming isn't the issue, but I'm afraid that I could fucked up the whole mini (yeah, I'm capable of that heheh). I'll see what I can do tonightsea.man wrote:Maybe now you could just make a dark wash and put it into the deepest places?

Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Instead of shadows why not highlights than a overal glaze do tone down?
Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
Well, I think that the highlights are good enough but the shadows aren't. Tonight I'll try to add a bit of shadows to see how it is working.Pandadosmares wrote:Instead of shadows why not highlights than a overal glaze do tone down?

Re: Hellspawn's Salamanders
If you are airbrushing then you can always do some of the highlight in very focal points of the mini, and im not talking about edge highlights or dots
