I'd only hihglight edges of the head plate with white to make them look striking from a distance. nice unit. simple paintjob, but pretty effective colour combo

Hi guys,

wow has it been a while since I've posted any WiP here. I am currently working on a Secret Santa mini for somebody on another website. I am miles behind and it looks like I am definitely going to miss the christmas deadline. I really want to do a good job on this one and to that end I'm fairly happy with how things are going so far. But in saying that I would love some feed back from you guys how stuff to improve.

So this is the mini I am painting.

The things I consider finished:
The Gold
The Blue Tunic
The Leather Overcoat

The things I have to finish:
The Hat
The Sliver Items
The lapels of the coat (cream areas)
Gloves
Boots
Gasmask, tubes and filters
Scarf
Holster

I have really struggled with the lapels to be honest and I still feel like I'm struggling. I'd love to hear suggestions you guys might have for improving them or the mini as a whole.

Hope the guy I'm doing this for does not use this website. :D

Having looked through your WIP, your painting is really coming along, too. :) I'm sure whoever is receiving this won't mind if it's late - it'll probably be one of the nicest models they own.

I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Asfor the finished elements, why is the cloack so glossy?

It's not really that glossy in real life. I take my photo's with the light shining from directly behind my camera. This may be the reason I think my photos come out over exposed and glossy. The whole mini will get a coat of Matt varnish when I finish so if there is any gloss effect that should get rid of it.

Back again for an update.

I got a couple of hours done on this guy over the weekend and as I mentioned I was really struggling with the lapels on the jacket. I've finally gotten something that I am happy with and I think they look like nice soft leather now. I also did work on the scarf around the waist.

Think the photo might be shocking again. I really need to improve on this!

maybe not shocking, but surely making it hard to see what you have actually achieved :(
