It's Freddy Mercury, so spandax is allowed!
Most has been said already. What did you use for highlighting the black? I think you could push the highlights further.

Re: Angora's WIP Thread
The black areas are just black at this stage. No highlights at all.
I think the sheen on his blue uniform may be either a) the heavy wash I popped on it or b) from a bit of handling. The blue areas are just basecoat and one wash at this stage.
I'be done a lot more to the base now and will post pics soon.

Some more progess. Still have work to do on nearly all areas.

His pelise looks a bit light grey in the pic. It's a bit darker than that IRL.
I'm not going to highlight up too much more - I'll probably shade down as the uniform is meant to be a very dark blue.
The stone of the base is done I think.

Re: Angora's WIP Thread
I think that skin would be much better with some colour nuances, with some purples and reds introduced to it.
Re: Angora's WIP Thread
great job on the stone railing.
ther trousers look much better now - flat, but absolutely acceptable.
the jacket is a bit worse - although you pulled lights a bit further there, transitions lack the smoothness you have achieved on the trousers.
and the face, well, yeah. there's some room for improvement. it seems a bit monochromatic, and with such scale of miniatures you could play a bit with adding touches of different colors. have you read the tutorial on painting faces already?
the current color of shading makes him look a bit unhealthy. well, I bet it can be justified with ease, but is it the look you wanted?

Re: Angora's WIP Thread
Thanks all. I do need to work more on the face.
@ mahon - great point re the jacket. I'll put some more work into it. The highlights aren't quite that bright - I think the light is catching it a bit in the pic. I must try and improve these pics

New WIP.
This time it's the Sloot Gunner from the Ron N' Bones range.
Mini is still wet with undercoat in this shot.
Base is still a bit WIP.

Re: Angora's WIP Thread
More done on the gunner.
Nothing is finished yet (maybe the barrel) - the skin is just at first topcoat and before highlights of any significance.
