Saying "Hi!"
Hello all. On several boards I'm registered as Still Life Miniatures but my name is Jen.
I've been painting since 2001. My first minis were for a commission (they came out terribly) that was thrown at me by a friend. I never became a collector nor a gamer... I've solely painted for other people ranging from private commissions and painting for my own booth at renaissance fairs to painting mock ups for professional sculptors. Within the last 6 or so years, I've decided to really work to improve my skill, get a website going, and be a bit more serious about picking up commissions. I do have a full time job, but I would much rather roll out of bed, make some coffee and paint in the sunlight than drive off to work. I have some other art projects going on as well and hopefully can live and create in peace than to scrape a living out of a job that may or may not be there for me much longer. If interested, check out still-life-miniatures.com. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

Interesting story! I've never heard about somebody starting this hobby by doing commissions immediately.
I'm eager to see what your painting level is, and to hear where you want to improve.

Thanks for all the feedback. This is a well made website and I'm enjoying reading all of the great information here. Corvus, I started out with a commission job right out of the gate because I had a friend working on a Chapter of Ultramarines for a guy. My friend got a job at GW and passed on the work to me because I've always been creative in other ways. I know I'm just fair painter but I believe my customers like that fact that I'm communicative and easy to work with. I'm able to copy different styles within reason but I'm aware that my overall painting needs much improvement. I'm in the middle of a small commission of Ultramarines. The guy loves them so far but I will post pictures on the correct board here for comments on how to improve for my own sake. Thanks again all....
