It might sound a bit harsh, but the cloak doesn't look good at this point or on this picture. Are you blocking in the areas for highlighting and shading with plans to smoothen it later?

It's not harsh, it is only a wip at the moment

but yes Tomaz i often do that with red, as i like glazing over highlights to smooth it out with some midtone red to give it back some richer colour. I actually think this is one of the worse photo i've ever taken too lol , perhaps i should enter this into the crystal brush as it is

Well i have been smoothing out the cloak as pointed out

i trimmed the long grass by quite a bit. As i was getting a little frustrated with the red cloak i decided to move onto the armour itself and so far i'm enjoying it, some parts i want to redo a little but generally speaking it's coming along quite well. I will probably weather his armour a little with some minor scratches and possible some green tinges around joints and rivets. Anyhow progress so far, it's nice to get back into the painting routine !

I quite like the effect in the armour so far. The bright spots on the kneepads (especially the one on the left of the picture) are too broad I think. The rest is good!

I thought that about the knee pad this morning too when i had clear vision after sleeping. So it's going to be tidied up, i totally agree with you.

nice NMM, shiny and bright. not very smooth at the moment but I believe it's not finished yet or simply intentional.
just like the cloak - it must be either your intention to keep it simple or it's just a stage in achieving your final result (which may be very interesting lighting effect)

I know you've got the skills and technique to make it shiny and smooth just like on your previous works. now it's up to you to choose if you want to...

Well I do want to smooth it out a bit, but again im using this model to get myself back into painting consistently again. I was actually back in the UK last week for my friend's wedding, so that kind of put a slight delay in my plan to paint lots again. But I am inspired a bit more by talking to friends and looking through the work here, so anyway I managed to progress a bit more with the gold NMM and i'm about 80% happy with it so far, I still need to smooth some bits out some more, but i've been at an exhibition all week so been getting in late and my eyes are a bit weird at the moment. I will strive to finish this model by this weekend and start something else, perhaps i need a marine to get my groove back?

Looks really cool, i dont know if its just me but the way this is painted reminds me of hot sunset or daybreak, but somehow the gold nmm made the red cape a little dull other then that i like
