Here's the figure I painted for the Studio McVey competition over on the WAMP site:

This was my first attempt at sheer cloth, and I found it to be a bit less tricky than I had originally thought. Of course, having a decent grasp on the concept of glazing was a big help there.

I'm not crazy about the base, but was running out of time, and this was the third option, after a couple of spectacular failures. I'm thinking now that time constraints are out of the way, I might go back and give it a better base. But then again, maybe I'll just get another copy of this figure and start from scratch (and not have some really terrible spots where I didn't prep the mini well enough).

Other spots I'm not crazy about -- the face and the strands of cloth hanging between the arms and the body. Oh yeah, and the fish in her hair, and the horribly sculpted and painted starfish on the base.

nothing really to add after your own comments :)
this is a cool mini, though surely not one of your best, for reasons already given.

Increasing shadows in the recesses of the cloak would make it shine more. That's my only advice.
The skin is great and very nice work on the semi-transparency of the dress :)

The blue part isn't as good as the rest. NMM first class, especially the sword.
Some shadows on the white wings on his helmet are missing. But overall very nice.

As I've said other places, really like the little dude, but the McVey mini is quite nice! Nice work on the dress for sure.

I suppose I should necro this thread to post the mini I painted for JerzyK for the latest Mini Exchange.

Parts of this I'm happy with. The skin tones, not so much. Definitely need more contrast on the face of the dude.

I've always liked your clean and colourful style Pae, and this one is imo so-so from you. The base is nice, i love what you've done and the colours are nice and vivid with the awesome highlights. The cloth again super smooth and really shows some great technique and rich colour which breaks up the model. As you said the skin appears rather flat, although there is not much of it, it still doesn't attract my attention. The gold armour plates particularly on the upper body for me seem rather flat too, i think some more contrast there would help create a more impact-ing effect.

Three pieces of crap that I've painted for Reaper (two were finished last year, but never posted). Well, I suppose they aren't terrible, but they aren't quite what I'd call great, either.

A few others are on my desk that are in various stages of completion that I'd like to get done, and then I can move on to some new stuff.
