why I like P3s over Vallejos?

- they seem to be more durable
- they seem to have more unified density. you know, Vallejo paints vary in their thickness a lot - one color can be thin, and another - very thick
- vallejo paints tend to vary in roughness of their pigments

so Vallejos are great, have huge range of colors (and we use them a lot) but P3s are much more predictable. that's more of Ana's comment than mine, because I don't paint as much that it would be a serious problem for me, but for her taking another bottle of paint and being surprised with what you find there was additional (and unnecessary) complication.

so we will keep using and buying new vallejos because their range of colors and additions (like Ana's favorite inks and transparent paints) are almost incomparable. but P3s and Reapers tend to be easier to use, more predictable, more consistent quality-wise.

also some Vallejos suffer from the problem of easy separation of pigment from the base/medium/binder. the problem also occurs to other paints but we haven't had it that often with them

Indeed I have some problems with some of my Vallejo paints concerning the color/pigment problem. Especially the reds and oranges suffer from this, to the point where shaking and stirring doesn't help anymore.

RMS has been my main set of colors for years now. I've never used any of their pro paints and hence most likely wont need the new high density ones much either. I could see where it would be faster for establishing the initial base color in transparent paints like yellows and what not. It's just something that I have never bothered to explore.

I don't really have a problem with the VMC or VGC separating anymore. Sure you can run into problems when you are using a welled ceramic palette, but since there is so little paint needed with wet palettes it's a negligible issue for me. The lack of durability is kind of a drag, but since my minis don't really get touched very often that's not such a big deal either.

I've been shy to try the P3 line mostly based off of a description I heard of them years ago when they first came out. Someone I know said that they had an almost rubbery feel. I have tried their metallics and gave them a mixed review. Beautiful colors, but weird consistency. But I've heard so many great things about P3.. I know I really like the look of the colors! We're gonna give it another shot though.... I have just placed an order for a few selected colors and we will have to see how they turn out. I'm gonna start with trollblood base, coal black and exile blue...

there are two must-have colors for us in the P3 range: Menoth White Highlight and Coal Black - one is almost white, and the other almost black. Can one paint without these?

I like the 6'th from the bottom. Dark elf wit big sword. Reaper has already made few simillar to this one. They all look very interesting.

yes this is a very nice sculpt, but the staff simply doesn't suit the rest of the model, it's too thick and looks like sculpting was done in 2 minutes
