Hey guys, started working on this Escher gang and I could use some opinions for the skin tones.
Pretty much all of the Escher figures I've seen are painted in really bright punk outfits or army fatigues. What I would like to do is a goth/punk scheme (pale skin, black clothes) for something different. This will also allow me to improve my skin tones and black shading since they're probably my weakest painting areas.
Didn't work as much on the right one since it was only for comparison. Wasn't sure if the green was too much, but you answered my question. Thanks Mahon!
the girl on the right has nice shadows on her neck but the one on the left doesn't. OK, she has some green parts but the green is too bright and glowing to look like a shadow.
OSL: blue, they will look cool in this cold color scheme
rust: don't overdo it, I'd avoid oranges and rather used browns because oranges may be too bright and eyecatching
hazard marks - your choice, but I wouldn't use them at all. not very gothy
Haven't been painting much the past week which means things are progressing slow. Not exactly in the running to win any golden demons, but it seems to be coming along okay.
good job on the black trousers - you didn't overdo the highlights, but did enough to make it all look interesting but still black! good job, indeed!
I also like the stripes and weathering on the sword. the rusty streaks are a bit unnatural as they seem to suggest the sword was put aside vertically in the rain. or at least the direction of the streaks makes me think so...
now you need to apply some cool highlights on the hair to make it look a bit more shiny and probably paint the pupil of her eye...
