Chest of Colors forum

To get my mind of the tale mini's I started painting on a widowmaker and tried to do some nmm on the gunbarrel and chestplate. It's my second try on steel. I allready had some experience with the gold on a Khorne champion a while ago, but I couldn't get it to look right then.

from what I can make up from the picture the NMM looks pretty good

and what's your exact problem with the camera and the light?

and which type of primer do you use? it looks to thick and glossy

The primer is carprimer ^^ It IS a bit glossy yes. The pic just makes it looks thick I find it covers really good, and I have no problems with chipping primer, or chalky primer. (Tidoco2222 said I could use it just as wel as GW primers or whatever) You just need to make sure, you have enough distance while spraying to keep it thin. And wear a gasmask... as it really get's up your nose

The problem with the camera and light is that I always end up with too dark pics when I take them inside. And I have to do a ton of photoshopping before I can get them to a decent standard. Also the colors are always off. I use a daylightbulb and 2 spots as a lighting set up. And I set the white balance manually, I choose the artificial light set up, and arrange the ammount of light that the camera catches. Just need to experience more inside I think, outside I can get decent pics... but it rains

did you see the pictures of my exorcist tank? Apart from the resizing, nothing has been photoshopped. I use one (rectangular) white light, and put the camera on full automatic, with macro. I also use a tripod, but you can put it on a desk as well.

One thing you must not do is start mixing up lights. Only use one or two of the same type. Especially mixing white and yellow light can mess up things. That's probably causing the loss of color on your pics as well.

And if you photoshop, which filters do you use then? I used to do an auto-levels and sharpen before resizing the pic. Butlike I said, i am now using a proper setup and I don't have to do this anymore.

this babe looks pretty interesting but imo she is too "pale", I just mean I really like classic, eye-catching khador's colors scheme

Well.. I don't want her to look like just another khador mini covered in red I went for paler colors because according to the fluff, they live in a hard, freezing land. So I thought colder colours would be nice. I made the inside robe red to refer to Khador

I was thinking about shading it down a bit yes. So I might as well try it. Any suggestions on the color? The basecoat for it was bestial brown, so maybe use that color with a bit of black?

I use levels (don't use auto-levels though) and play a bit with brightness and contrast. I tried it with curves, but that just doesn't work for me
I'll try to take pics with one type of lamp, and see how it turns out
